Friends Foundation of the Ridgewood Public Library Welcomes New York Times Bestselling Author Anna Quindlen to 36th Annual Author Luncheon

Author Luncheon

Give your cherished but broken items a second chance at life at this Saturday's FREE Repair Cafe! Skilled repair coaches and passionate teen volunteers will be available to help from 1-4:00pm in the Ridgewood Public Library auditorium. Repair services will include lamps, bikes, electronics, small furniture, appliances, PCs, watches, sewing, jewelry, knife sharpening, and mechanical. To allow all patrons an opportunity to get their well-loved items fixed, repairs are limited to two total items per person. Fill out a ticket in the lobby for one item; you may fill out a second ticket if time permits. No appointment or registration is required. Your donation to Friends Foundation helps to fund the costs of the Repair Cafe.

Share or take divided perennials, overgrown herbs, or labeled seed packets. We encourage native and pollinator-friendly plants for birds, bees, and butterflies.

If you submitted your reading through the online form, elementary students will receive their Ben & Jerry’s coupon for a free ice cream in school by the end of the month and the middle school raffle winners will be notified by their school librarian. For those that donated $25 or more, the Ridgewood Library will contact you directly to choose a book for your bookplate.

February is Reading Marathon month! The Reading Marathon is a wonderful fundraiser that helps to foster a love of reading at school and home, while also raising valuable funds for the Friends Foundation of the Ridgewood Public Library to purchase books and media, as well as science, art and cultural programs for all ages.

All Ridgewood children in PreK-Gr. 12 are welcome to participate and no registration is required. Simply have your child set a personal reading goal & track their reading all month long. Then, submit their reading online at the end of February to be eligible for prizes, such as a free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's, gift cards or a Ben & Jerry's 20-Scoop Vermonster Sundae. If you don't receive a flyer through your school, you can download one from the Reading Marathon website at the link in our bio.

That's also where you'll find a list of fun events taking place at the Ridgewood Public Library throughout the month, beginning with two kickoff events for every age - Miss Jolie on Jan. 31 & K-Pop Demon Hunters on Feb. 2 (event registration required).

In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., the Ridgewood Public Library will be screening the first episode of Eyes on the Prize lll: “We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest.” A propulsive narrative chronicling the fight for racial justice in America, this episode spans the rise of Reaganomics and the AIDS crisis, communities in the South Bronx and the Philadelphia fight for housing and healthcare. The film will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Leslie Wilson, Montclair State University professor and expert in environmental racism and African American studies. Registration on the library's website is required.
